New chapter. New routine. New goals.
Starting esthetics school is exciting, but it can also feel a little overwhelming. What will the first week be like? What should you bring? Will you feel behind? (Spoiler: you won’t.)
At Skin Science Institute, we understand that starting your esthetician training is a big step. That’s why we’re here to help you feel confident from day one. If you’re preparing for your first week at esthetics school, here’s exactly what to expect and how to make the most of it.
You’ll Be Welcomed Right Away
From the moment you walk through our doors, you’ll be greeted by friendly staff, experienced instructors, and fellow students who know what it’s like to start fresh. Expect a full campus tour, introductions to your educators, and a chance to get settled into your new environment.
You don’t need to have everything figured out yet. Your first week is focused on orientation, getting organized, and getting comfortable in your new routine.
You’ll Get Your Schedule, Esthetics Kit, and Uniform
During your first few days, you’ll receive your class schedule, professional esthetics kit, and student scrubs. At Skin Science Institute, all students wear matching scrubs to reflect the professionalism of the beauty and skincare industry. This sets the tone: you’re training for a career in a licensed and respected field.
Your kit includes the tools and skincare products you’ll use throughout your training. You’ll get a full walkthrough on how to use each item, care for your tools, and integrate them into your esthetician education.
You’ll Learn the Basics of Esthetics—and Why They Matter
Your first week of esthetician school will introduce core topics like skin structure, hygiene, safety protocols, and sanitation standards. You’ll also become familiar with state board requirements, classroom expectations, and the professional ethics involved in working with real clients.
This week isn’t about memorizing everything. It’s about building a strong foundation that supports everything you’ll learn moving forward.
You’ll also gain insight into how the esthetics program is structured—when you’ll start hands-on practice, when you’ll begin seeing clients, and how to prepare for exams and licensing.
You’ll Meet Classmates Who Share Your Goals
One of the most valuable parts of your first week is meeting your classmates. You’ll be surrounded by people who are on the same journey—some fresh out of high school, others making a career change.
Many students form strong bonds in esthetics school. These connections often turn into lasting friendships, study partnerships, and professional networks.
You’ll Start to Build Confidence in Your Skills
No one expects perfection in the first week. But by the end of it, you’ll already feel more confident and capable than you did on day one. You’ll understand your daily routine, know where to go, and feel more connected to your training.
Most importantly, you’ll be taking real steps toward becoming a licensed esthetician. It’s the beginning of something big.
