Skin Science Institute’s PMU specialty certification programs are intentionally designed to provide far more than observation-based learning.
Students progress through a guided hands-on experience that includes instructor demonstrations, technique refinement, machine practice, mapping exercises, color theory application, and supervised live model procedures.
Rather than rushing directly into client work, students first build foundational confidence through structured online education, virtual coaching, and guided practical preparation before transitioning into hands-on application.
Each student is required to secure three live models throughout training, allowing them to gain meaningful real-world experience under close instructor supervision and personalized feedback.
Students will also participate in a dedicated touch-up experience outside of the classroom, helping them better understand healed results, retention, and long-term client outcomes.

Students enrolled in our PMU specialty certification programs receive a comprehensive training experience designed to support both technical mastery and long-term career success.
Each program includes a professionally curated PMU student kit featuring the essential tools, equipment, pigments, supplies, and practice materials used throughout hands-on training and beyond certification.
Training combines structured hybrid education with guided online learning, virtual instructor coaching, immersive in-person instruction, and meaningful live model experience to help students build real confidence in their craft.
Students will also receive education in consultation, client care, healing protocols, color theory, business foundations, and marketing strategies designed to support success both inside and outside of the treatment room.
Upon successful completion, students will receive a certificate of completion recognizing their specialty training.
